Rapid advancements in computational power and Internet applications have created a virtual world, commonly known as Cyberspace. The research on virtual synergy helps to harmonize the real and virtual worlds, and to promote human/computer cooperation in such tasks that are difficult to accomplish without adequate assistance from each other. Dr. X. Yuan's research interests cover from Computational Intelligence in Automation to Human Intelligence in Human/Computer Interaction. While Virtual Reality is the tool to use towards the formation of virtual synergy, the targeted application areas include Robotics, (Service-Oriented) Software Engineering, e-Commerce, and Information Processing.

Dr. X. Yuan's research is funded by NSERC of Canada.
